PicoSure Pro Laser Treatment in Los Angeles Koreatown
If you are dealing with melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun damage, uneven skin tone, or an unwanted tattoo, PicoSure Pro is one of the picosecond laser platforms we use at Shiny Laser Skin Clinic in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Serving Los Angeles since 2014, we treat pigmentation as a long-term skin health question rather than something a single appointment settles.
What We Use PicoSure Pro For
- Melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- Sun damage and uneven skin tone
- Skin texture and enlarged pores
- Tattoo removal
How PicoSure Pro Works
PicoSure Pro delivers its energy in picosecond pulses — trillionths of a second. Because each pulse is so short, more of its effect is photomechanical than thermal, which is one reason picosecond platforms are often selected for pigment in skin that reacts badly to heat.
The platform treats at three wavelengths — 532nm, 755nm, and 1064nm — and can be fitted with the Focus Lens Array for skin revitalization work. Spot sizes range from 2–6mm through 8mm and 10mm. Which wavelength, spot size, and energy setting we use depends on your skin type and on what we are treating; those choices are made at consultation, not in advance.
PicoSure Pro for Asian and Melanin-Rich Skin
Shiny specializes in Asian and melanin-rich skin types, including patients with a higher risk of hyperpigmentation. Skin with more melanin absorbs laser energy differently, and a setting that is unremarkable on lighter skin can provoke post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in skin that is more pigment-reactive.
Our approach focuses on minimizing PIH through customized settings and preparation. In practice that means conservative energy, attention to how your skin responded to the previous session, and a plan that treats the barrier as seriously as the pigment.
How We Plan Your Treatment
Unlike traditional med spas that focus on individual treatments, we design structured treatment protocols tailored to your skin condition, skin type, and long-term results. For pigmentation, that protocol combines gentle, targeted laser treatments, skin barrier repair and maintenance, and a long-term prevention strategy. PicoSure Pro is one instrument inside that plan rather than the plan itself, and for some patients it is not the right instrument at all.
What to Expect
Your first visit is an assessment rather than a treatment. We look at what is actually driving the pigment, review your history and any previous laser work, and explain which approach we would recommend and why.
Treatment sessions are scheduled at planned intervals so we can see how your skin responds before deciding the next step. Aftercare centers on barrier support and consistent sun protection, which matters as much as the treatment itself for pigmentation. Every laser treatment carries risks, including changes in pigmentation; we review these with you before we begin.
Patients’ skin varies widely, so we cannot guarantee the number of sessions needed.
